About these terms

These terms apply to digital publications and downloadable products described on this website and sold under the Practical Food Safety Press imprint. They should be read alongside the website terms of use and any terms imposed by the platform through which a purchase is made.

Digital publications

All products sold under the Practical Food Safety Press imprint are digital publications, provided as downloadable PDF files. They are not physical goods.

These publications provide structured commentary on food safety legislation and inspection practice in Scotland. They do not constitute legal advice, compliance guidance, operational instruction, or business-specific assessment of any kind. No compliance guarantee is given or implied by any publication.

Operator Responsibility

Responsibility for compliance with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements remains at all times with the Food Business Operator or the individual or organisation concerned. A publication describing how a regulatory framework operates in practice does not create, modify, or discharge any legal obligation.

Use of purchased publications

A purchase grants a licence to read and use the publication for personal use and internal business reference only, unless otherwise agreed in writing. The following are not permitted:

• Redistribution, resale, or transfer to third parties.
• Sharing files with individuals or organisations outside the purchasing party.
• Uploading publications to any platform, service, or network.
• Republication of content, in whole or in part, in any format.
• Commercial reuse or incorporation into other products or services.

Copyright is not transferred upon purchase.

Product updates

Publications are produced as versioned editions. The publisher reserves the right to update, revise, or discontinue any publication at any time. A purchase relates to the edition supplied and does not create an entitlement to future revised editions unless otherwise stated.

The availability of specific titles may change without notice.

Purchases through Etsy

At the time of writing, publications are sold through Etsy. Purchases made through Etsy are also subject to Etsy's own terms of service, buyer and seller policies, and any applicable consumer rights provisions administered through that platform.

For order management, delivery, and platform-level disputes, Etsy's processes apply in the first instance.

Cancellations and Refunds

Digital publications are made available for immediate download upon purchase. Under UK consumer law, the right to cancel may not apply to digital content once download or access has begun, where the consumer has acknowledged this before purchase. Applicable legal rights are not excluded or limited by these terms.

Where a purchase is made through Etsy, Etsy's own refund and dispute resolution policies also apply. For order-related queries, please use Etsy order messaging.
